Luce Sferica and Luce Cilindrica, a modern enchantment by Ronan Bouroullec

Acclaimed French designer Ronan Bouroullec, known for his craftsmanship and industrial technique, unveils two new creations for Flos: Luce Sferica and Luce Cilindrica.

Luce Sferica

These designs continue his exploration of material, form and light through the quiet magic of blown glass, reflecting a distinctive ability to turn emotion into functional design.

“Luce Sferica is a lamp that seeks delicacy and the beauty of the little things, like raindrops clinging to a wire or a soap bubble blown by a child. Mouth-blown glass spheres glide along the extruded aluminium base as gently as a bubble settling on a wire. Softness, magic, and technical sophistication prevail here. An object of great technical precision, it conveys poetry and fragile beauty more than synthetic mechanics.”

Balancing precision and poetry

At the core of the lamp is a horizontal aluminium profile housing two LED strips: one emits light upwards, the other downwards. The spherical glass elements are crafted using the centuries-old technique of glass blowing, giving them an almost weightless appearance. A discreet touch dimmer at one end allows for independent control of each light source.

Like Luce Sferica, the same balance of technique and poetry defines Luce Cilindrica, a sister design that replaces the spheres with slender borosilicate glass cylinders. Both models are available in three dimensions, each with a corresponding number of spheres or cylinders.

Landscapes of light

Perfect for homes, hospitality settings, museum spaces or architectural interiors, Luce Sferica and Luce Cilindrica can be installed in multiple parallel rows to form magical luminous landscapes.
