The street beneath a run of elevated “L” train tracks in Chicago’s downtown business district could soon see the light. That’s thanks to the “Wabash Lights,” a site-specific public art project that plans to add more than 5,000 programmable LED tubes to the underside of the tracks that shroud the two-block stretch of Wabash Avenue between Madison and Monroe streets.
The latest work from Dutch artist Herman Kuijer is a duo of permanent light art pieces for two highway underpasses-the Marstunnel and the Kostverloren tunnel-in Zutphen, Netherlands, a city situated along the IJessel River. Continue reading…

Belgian lighting manufacturer Kreon, located in Opglabbeek, Belgium, has announced its acquisition of Swiss lighting company Belux, effective Jan. 1, 2016. According to the press release, “Kreon plans to maintain the brand name, product strategy and orientation of Belux and will operate in the market with the dual brands Kreon and Belux.”
