Project Overview

As part of the rejuvenation of the Mall in Waterford City, and having previously worked on the Theatre Royal and the Bishop’s Palace, Dlight were asked to assist on this unique project.

The vision for the project was monolithic in nature, using light within the basement caverns to bring life to these previously unmentioned structures. The new design, and the combination of old and new, created a true sense of scale and atmosphere throughout the project.

The museum is designed to tell the 1,100-year-old story of Waterford, from its foundation in 914 by the Vikings to the late 20th century.

Waterford Museum is Ireland’s only medieval museum and showcases the Treasures of Medieval Waterford.
