Bringing a sculptural vision to light

Dlight was invited to develop the lighting scheme for the extension of Dunne & Crescenzi in Kildare Village, creating a lighting solution that would complement the restaurant’s distinctive architectural character while providing effective, comfortable illumination for diners and staff.

The interior includes richly detailed timber surfaces and strong geometric lines creating a dramatic setting. The lighting needed to do more than simply illuminate the space — it had to become part of the architecture.

A lighting feature with movement

Working in partnership with Vibia, Dlight selected the Rhythm Horizontal Suspension, designed by Arik Levy, as the centrepiece of the scheme.

Its modular LED sticks can be individually rotated and arranged to create fluid, wave-like compositions. This flexibility allowed the fitting to be configured specifically for the space, echoing the dynamic forms of the ceiling and timber architecture.

Suspended above the restaurant, the installation creates a striking sculptural feature while delivering practical task lighting to the dining area. The rhythm of the individual light elements introduces movement and texture, adding another layer of visual interest to the interior.

Lighting as part of the architecture

Rather than treating the lighting as a separate element, the design integrates illumination into the overall architectural concept. The linear LED elements draw the eye through the space, emphasising the height and geometry of the interior while creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for the restaurant.

The result is a lighting installation that balances function, atmosphere and visual impact — providing the task lighting required for a busy restaurant while enhancing the bold character of the extension.

The result

A bespoke lighting solution that becomes an integral part of the interior: functional enough to support the restaurant environment, yet expressive enough to act as a key architectural feature.
