Project Overview
We’re delighted to see The Barton Grill, a casual fine-dining restaurant at The K Club, now open. The restaurant’s inviting interiors and branding were designed by Millimetre Design.
In hospitality, lighting design is one of the most powerful tools for shaping a guest’s experience. At The Barton Grill in The K Club, the challenge was to create a lighting scheme that could effortlessly transition throughout the day—supporting bright, welcoming breakfasts and lunches while transforming into an intimate and sophisticated dining destination in the evening.
Our team was proud to supply the decorative lighting package for this project, including bespoke chandeliers, wall lighting and rechargeable portable table lamps, all carefully selected to work together as a cohesive lighting scheme.
Unlike many commercial environments, restaurants operate across multiple dayparts, each requiring a distinct atmosphere. Morning service benefits from a brighter, more energising environment that complements natural daylight and encourages a relaxed start to the day. As daylight fades, the lighting must gradually evolve, creating warmth, depth, and intimacy without compromising comfort or visibility.
At Barton Grill, lighting was designed not simply to illuminate the space, but to define the guest experience throughout the day. Layered lighting allows the restaurant to adapt seamlessly, enhancing both the architecture and the dining experience at every hour.
The striking circular chandeliers provide the visual focal point of the dining room. Suspended above the tables, they introduce a sense of elegance and scale while delivering a warm, ambient glow throughout the space.
The multiple glass elements create radiance and visual interest, particularly during evening service when reflections and highlights bring the room to life. Beyond their decorative impact, the chandeliers establish the overall character of the restaurant, reinforcing the premium hospitality experience associated with The K Club.
Complementing the chandeliers, decorative wall lights add depth and balance to the room. Positioned around the perimeter, they provide a softer layer of illumination that highlights the architectural detailing and creates visual warmth throughout the space.
A key element of the scheme is the use of rechargeable portable table lamps. These portable luminaires provide a refined layer of low-level illumination directly at the dining table, enhancing the guest experience while maintaining flexibility for restaurant operations.
Unlike fixed installations, rechargeable lamps can be repositioned as layouts change, ensuring every table benefits from the same quality of light. During evening service, they create intimate pools of light that enhance food presentation, encourage conversation, and contribute to the overall ambience without introducing visual clutter.
The success of the Barton Grill lighting scheme lies in its layered approach. Together, these elements create a dynamic environment capable of adapting from bright daytime dining to an elegant evening destination. The result is a lighting solution that supports the operational needs of the venue while elevating the overall guest experience.
The completed lighting scheme delivers a sophisticated balance of functionality and atmosphere, allowing Barton Grill to transition effortlessly throughout the day. By combining statement decorative lighting with flexible portable solutions, the restaurant achieves a welcoming daytime character and a warm, luxurious evening ambience.
Our contribution demonstrates how thoughtful lighting design can enhance hospitality environments, creating memorable experiences for guests while supporting the practical demands of modern restaurant operation.
